Baltimore Lab is a Certified Maryland Green School!
This accomplishment represents our school's commitment to environmental literacy for staff, students and the community. Thank you to the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE) for recognizing this commitment, and supporting our students in becoming well-informed citizens and consumers.
Stewardship = Knowledge + Skills + Attitude + Motivation
Baltimore Lab School’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for experiential learning extends far beyond the classroom. Opportunities for Outdoor Education are integral to the Lab experience from first through twelfth grade.
Baltimore Lab School believes the arts can help children express their love of the earth. By becoming the “other creature,” they learn to have true empathy for another part of creation. The arts do that better than any other form of education. “To draw and sing the Chesapeake is to become the Chesapeake.” - Tom Weisner
All students participate in trips that range from one-to-three days. These trips often include camping, backpacking, canoeing, swimming, rock climbing, cycling, and environmental exploration. The Chesapeake Bay is the primary focus of students’ environmental explorations. Baltimore Lab School’s Watershed Stewards of the Chesapeake promote stewardship of the Chesapeake Bay through knowledge, skill, attitude and motivation. We encourage our students to explore and answer the following questions: How does our world work? How is our world connected? How do you make well-reasoned decisions?
