Thanks to a grant from the Chesapeake Bay Trust (funded by sales of Maryland's Treasure of the Chesapeake license plate) we leave our urban campus to get outside and learn through hands-on experiences. Most of our student driven best management practices are done off-site.
Students who attend Chesapeake Bay Foundation Trips are required to perform an action to help save the bay. Here are some of the projects students designed to save energy in Middle School STEAM activities and Ms. Huggins' High School Environmental Science Class.

Energy Education. Construction of a Mini Wind Farm: January 2013
On January 30, 2013, 6th-8th grade students participated in alternative energy experiments with a mini wind farm. They learned about nonrenewable energy sources such as fossil fuels. Energy Education. Converting Trash to Electricity. Grades 9-12: December 6, 2012.
Advanced Design Applications students took a trip to the BRESCO. Students take a trip to the Baltimore Refuse Energy Systems Company to see how some of the surrounding cities are turning their trash into energy. They toured the plant and saw first hand the amount of trash that is being collected and converted into usable energy. Students participated by building hand-held electric generators. They also made sure that our trash is going to BRESCO to be converted into electricity. Teacher: Anant Saran |

LED Lighting Project
